Bounds for Bose-Einstein correlation functions.
Bounds for the correlation functions of identical bosons are discussed for the general case of a Gaussian density matrix. In particular, for a purely chaotic system the two-particle correlation function must always be greater than one. On the other hand, in the presence of a coherent component the correlation function may take values below unity. The experimental situation is briefly discussed....
متن کاملHigher Order Bose-Einstein Correlations for Systems with Large Halo
A generalization of the core/halo model to the Bose-Einstein correlation function of any number of particles is presented. In particular, a simple prediction is obtained for the intercept parameter of the n-particle Bose-Einstein correlation functions for arbitrary large values of n. Introduction. Multi-particle correlations are studied extensively in high energy collisions, with the aim of lea...
متن کاملShortest movie: Bose-Einstein Correlation functions in e+e− annihilations
Bose-Einstein correlations of identical charged-pion pairs produced in hadronic Z decays are analyzed in terms of various parametrizations. A good description is achieved using Lévy stable distributions. The source function is reconstructed with the help of the τ-model.
متن کاملTesting the Core-Halo Model on Bose-Einstein Correlation Functions
Having first performed a Monte Carlo simulation to justify the analysis technique to be used, we then analyze the Bose-Einstein correlation functions from CERN experiment NA44 in the context of the core-halo model. Although experimental resolution and error bar distribution prevents a direct observation of the halo structure, the values for the core radius and the core fraction of pions can be ...
متن کاملBose - Einstein correlations of unstable particles ∗
Within a field theoretical formalism suited to treat inhomogeneous hot quantum systems, we derive the two-particle correlation function for particles having a spectral width γ in the region of their emission. We find, that this correlation function measures the radius R 0 of the thermal source only in case γR 0 > 1.
